Born in Eugene, Oregon in the early '60s John learned his driving skills at an early age. First by running Matchbox cars along the floor at age three, and later moving up to the enhanced performance of HotWheels. John was never happy with his first race cars simply going straight. Instead John preferred "sliding" his cars through the turns and a future rally driver was born. Of course having no knowledge of Performance Rally John searched in vain for 40 years to try and find an outlet for his "unique" driving style. Finally in the year 2000 John was introduced to the sport of Performance Rally by co-worker, friend, and fellow Rallyist Simon Levear. Simon asked John if he wanted to work the start of one of the stages for the 2000 Oregon Trail Performance Rally? It only took about 5 seconds for John to become hooked on the sport and at the 2001 Oregon Trail/Trails End Club Rally John became a participant.
